Ashley Howard is the R&D Quality Assurance Manager for the Boston Beer Company. Based in Boston, she oversees quality for beer and beyond beer product development, following products through from R&D scale to production scale. Her journey into the industry began with an internship in the Bell's Brewery quality lab. She spent some time away from beer to work in wastewater emergency management for the EPA. but returned to brewing before long, taking a quality role at Victory Brewing Company.
Ashley holds a B.S. in Earth & Environmental Science from the University of MIchigan and an M.S. in Environmental Health Science from the University of Michigan School of Public Health where her research focused on biofilm development and microbial community structure in point-of-use water filters. She is currently working towards her Brewing Diploma through the IBD.
Outside of her role at BBC, Ashley's involvement in the industry includes co-chairing the Brewers Association Quality Subcommittee, reviewing CBC presentations through BA conference selection committee, and serving as a member of the National Technical Committee for MBAA.
