Dr Bill Simpson is Director of Cara Technology Limited, a specialist in sensory panel development and
deployment and provider of sensory insight for clients. After starting his career with Tennent’s Brewery in Scotland, Bill joined
the Brewing Research Foundation near London, where he spent almost ten years carrying out research
into beer technology. Since establishing Cara Technology in 1995 he has consulted for clients in close to
100 countries and has played a part in growing Cara Technology into a trusted provider of technical
services to beverage producers around the world. He has published more than 120 technical papers,
patents and book chapters in the area of brewing technology and is the inventor of stabilized beer flavor
standards used to train tens of thousands of professional sensory assessors.
