Dr. Matt Winans is an expert in yeast technical fermentation, education, and genetics, with well over a decade of experience. He serves the Americas, bringing humble roots as a home brewer and is based in the Pacific Northwest brewing hub.
Dr. Winans has held several key roles throughout his career, including Head of Research and Development at Imperial Organic Yeast; Lead Scientific Fellow for the National Science Foundation, where he contributed to pivotal yeast hybridization research at Japan’s National Research Institute of Brewing and Saga University; and doctoral researcher specializing in S. cerevisiae yeast metabolism during his Ph.D. in Yeast Systems Biology at West Virginia University.
He currently serves as the Technical Sales Support Manager for Fermentis in the Americas and volunteers with the American Society for Brewing Chemists and the Master Brewers Association of the Americas, helping shape the future of yeast fermentation and brewing.
