Jessika De Clippeleer is Associate Professor in brewing and technology of fermentation processes at the Biotechnology Department of Ghent University's Faculty of Bioscience Engineering in Belgium. She is the head of the Innovation centre for Brewing & Fermentation (IBF), the joint research group in malting, brewing and fermentation technology of Ghent University and the HOGENT University of Applied Sciences, involved in education, research and industrial services. She is lecturer in biochemistry, biomolecules’ analysis and separation, and malting and brewing technology. Jessika started her career in malting and brewing science in 2005 as a biochemical industrial engineer (KAHO St.-Lieven, Ghent, Belgium) and food chemist (Wageningen University, The Netherlands). Jessika holds a PhD in Bioscience Engineering from KU Leuven on “Flavour stability of pale lager beer - Chemical-analytical characterisation of critical factors related to wort production and hopping”. Jessika is member of the Scientific Committee of the annual conference on malting and brewing of the alumni association Fermentatio vzw, and of the biennial international Trends in Brewing congress. She is also member of the Brewing Science Group of the European Brewery Convention, and of the American Society of Brewing Chemists.
